Day 1; Cusco – Quebrada Honda – Yanatili

Today, we will travel from Cusco to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which is located at an elevation of 4,568 meters. From the very start, you’ll be amazed by the Andes, their mountains, the locals dressed in their traditional Andean outfits, the typical stone houses, and the animals like alpacas and llamas. You’ll also see the rivers and the beautiful green and yellow hues of the mountains, all while enjoying the fresh air.

The road to the jungle is quite easy to navigate, as it’s a paved road with just a few small potholes that are easy to handle.

As we descend, the temperature will start to rise from 12°C to between 25°C and 32°C, and the colors of the mountains will become more vibrant and lush.

When it’s time for lunch, our chef will be waiting for us with a delicious meal prepared near the river, complete with a waterfall that will leave you in awe.

Day 2; Yanatile – Cabin in Quellouno

Today, we will kick off with a hearty American breakfast before heading out to cycle through the lush jungle of Quillabamba, from Quebrada Honda to the charming village of Quellouno. On this route, we’ll encounter sections of climbs, flat stretches, and descents, all surrounded by vibrant vegetation, singing birds, and buzzing insects. You’ll also get to see delicious fruits like cacao, mango, oranges, and the plants of coffee and coca.

Just like on the first day, we recommend bringing an extra pair of shoes, as we’ll be crossing some rivers and will likely get our first pair wet.

Our talented cook will showcase their culinary skills, surprising us with delightful lunch and dinner options.

Day 3; Chocolate Classes – Illapani and Mandor Waterfall trek

Quillabamba Jungle Adventure; Welcome to Quillabamba, often referred to as the land of eternal summer! Today, we’re gearing up for a fun day filled with swimming and exploring two beautiful waterfalls along the way. But first, we’ll kick things off with a masterclass on chocolate making!

We’ll learn all about the journey of chocolate, from the cacao tree to the drying, selection, and chocolate paste.

Illapani Waterfall

Our first stop is the stunning Illapani Waterfall, which boasts an impressive drop of over 80 meters, creating a natural pool that’s perfect for cooling off from the jungle heat. Located in the Cusco region, in the province of La Convención and the district of Echarate, it’s a must-see!

The hike from the bus stop to Illapani Waterfall will take about 40 to 50 minutes. The trail is well-marked, and along the way, we’ll cross a bridge and pass by plantations of lemons, papayas, wild potatoes (unkucha), pacay, cherimoyas, cacao, bananas, and a variety of other plants and fruits.

Yanay Mandor Waterfall

Next, we’ll head to the Yanay Waterfall, which has a breathtaking 70-meter drop nestled in a canyon. The force of the water creates beautiful rainbows in the mist!

The walk to this stunning spot takes only about 30 minutes from the parking area, and we’ll enjoy the sights of coffee, banana, and coca plantations along the way.

Seven Tinajas Waterfall

We’ll also visit the famous Seven Tinajas Waterfall, named after its unique formation of small pools that look like seven jars. If we have the opportunity, we can climb to the top for a fantastic panoramic photo of the waterfall.

The walk to this location is quick, taking just about 3 minutes from the main road connecting Quillabamba.

After soaking in the beauty of these spots, we’ll make our way to our cozy cabin. There’s plenty of space to walk around and even a spot to cool off in an artificial pool.

Cocalmayo Hot Springs

Finally, we’ll unwind at the Cocalmayo Hot Springs, known for its crystal-clear thermal waters that are perfect for relaxing your muscles after all the biking and hiking adventures in the Cusco jungle of Peru.

Day 4: Hike from Hydroelectric Station to Aguas Calientes town

Today, we will begin our ascent into the Andes of Cusco, heading toward the cloud forest of Machu Picchu. As you walk along the train tracks, you’ll notice the landscape changing, with fewer trees and lots of beautiful vegetation, including banana, coffee, and orange plants.

You’ll share this scenic path with many other tourists. The hike covers a distance of 13 km, and it’s mostly flat until we reach the charming village of Aguas Calientes, where we can relax in our hotel.

Recommendations: During your free time, feel free to explore the local market, enjoy the hot springs in Aguas Calientes, or visit the butterfly museum, among other attractions.

Dia 5; Guided tour in Machu Picchu – Cusco

The most anticipated day of our biking and hiking adventure in the unique jungle of Cusco has finally arrived, and today we will wrap up our journey by visiting the wonder of the world – Machu Picchu!

Our entrance to the Machu Picchu Sanctuary begins at 8 AM, where we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the best route through the citadel.

To get to and from the sanctuary, we will take the Concetur bus. Once we return to the town of Aguas Calientes, we will board the train heading to Ollantaytambo. From there, we will take the tourist bus back to Cusco, bringing our MTB tour through the jungle to a delightful close.
