We’ll pass by the Moray viewpoint, one of the incredible archaeological sites, built by circular rings. The Inca culture built this site for agricultural climate experimentation, planting crops that did not grow in this dry climate zone.
We’ll also bike to the Maras Salineras, one of the natural wonders known as the salt mines. It consists of an immense number of wells or small pools where salt is formed, fed only by a single water source that springs from within the Qaqawiñay mountain, which is also distributed to all the wells.
Tour Itinerary
Our Sacred Valley bike tour begins in the Cheq’erek community. Here, we’ll grab our bikes, helmets, and gloves, and begin our ride on a dirt road, climbing and descending through agricultural valleys and offering a panoramic view of Laguna Huaypo.
Our second stop will be at the Misminay Viewpoint. From this point, we’ll have a wonderful view of the Inca archaeological site of Moray; to reach it, we’ll have a 300-meter elevation gain.
After reaching the highest mountain on the Sacred Valley route, we’ll follow small, fun single trails heading to the town of Maras and continuing downhill to the same attraction, Salineras.
Note: The trails or short paths are intermediate and not technical. You can also choose not to ride these paths and instead take the wide road to better suit your skill level.
