Hello, today I wrote about Peru’s famous Rainbow Mountain, which is the new sensation in Cusco after Machu Picchu, and you can read everything about it here.

Rainbow mountain “Vinicunca”: Tourist information

How to get to Rainbow Mountain

This tourist attraction is located in Peru in the Cusco region, a 3-hour bus ride away. We recommend doing this activity outdoors on the second or third day because it is located at 5,200 m; most tourists feel bad because of the height.

Many tourists want to visit this place independently; for that, we have these options:

  • Get to this place on your own if possible, but with your own or rented mobility.
  • Get a bike tour to rainbow mountain to this place and it is possible.
  • The simplest and easiest option is to take a tour to the Mountain of Seven Colors with a travel agency, which includes transportation, breakfast, lunch, a guide, and the entrance ticket.
  • We do not recommend taking a public bus transferring from place to place until you reach the Vinicunca mountain. First, it is stressful, you have to wait for public mobility, and private taxis take advantage of foreign tourists with their prices.

Vinincunca 7 Colors

This place is in the Andes Mountains, surrounded by glacial peaks, which were discovered in 2015 due to the deglaciation of the mountain range.

Since then, it has become one of the most visited tourist attractions after Machu Picchu.

Ausangate Rainbow Mountain E-biking

The path begins in the community of Llaqto along a wide and well-signposted path; the majority of the route is flat, with only a 250-meter drop toward Vinicunca.

The walking time from Llaqto is 2 hours. If you don’t like the walk or feel bad about the altitude, you can rent a horse that will make your trip to the mountain easier. the rental price between 70, 80, and 90 soles.

The solution for height is the coca leaf, just as the ancient Incas did, which is very natural, or you can also bring alcohol, chocolates, water, or height pills that will help you feel better.

MTB Packages Peru

What is the best season to visit the mountain?

The best time to visit the mountain of seven colors is from April to November, when the weather is dry and warm enough to enjoy the scenery and take the best photos of the Vinicunca Mountain.

Biking Perú

The months that we do not recommend visiting this place are from December to March; these are the beginning of the rainy season. If you plan to visit in these months, you may be lucky to see the colorful mountains with clear weather; it doesn’t always rain every day.

If I book with an agency, what time does the tour start and what does it include?

We pick you up from your hotel at 4:30 a.m. We will travel for two hours to Cusipata, where we will have breakfast and lunch (buffet) in a tourist restaurant.

In this tour, we also include the guide and the entrance ticket to the mountain of seven colors.

How do I get to the Red Valley?

The red valley is located on the same route as the Seven Colors Mountain, and it takes about 30 minutes to walk there from Vinicunca.

You can get to these two attractions in just one day on a tour operated by a travel agency.
