The region of Cusco is divided into 13 provinces, in which there are cities located in the highlands and others in areas with abundant jungle vegetation; below I’ll tell you which are the provinces and the cycling routes they offer.
Manu & Tres Cruces biking
The gateway to embark on this cycling adventure is through the town of Paucartambo, a place well known for its indigenous dances such as Qhapaq Negro, Qapaq Chuncho, Doctorcito or Siklla, Qhapaq Qolla, Ch’unchachas, K’achampa, Aucca Chileno, Misti Qanchi, Saqra (“devil”) and others.
It is also known for the religious festival of the Virgen de Carmen, and not only that, this charming place was part of the pre-Inca culture; here are some archaeological sites like Watoqto and Chullpas de Ninamarka.
You will get to know these places and you can also enjoy an impressive viewpoint of the sunrise, known as the “Tres Cruces de Paucartambo.”
Location
The town of Paucartambo is located a 2-hour drive south of Cusco.
All about the mountain bike to the Manu jungle
After visiting this place, you will continue traveling for another 40 minutes towards the Tres Cruces viewpoint.
The next day at 5 am, you can witness the sunrise and start descending on a bike from 3,643m to 600m to the town known as Kosñipata – Pillcopata.
On the route there are some stops to take some photographs, observe birds, animals and we will also enjoy a swim in the rivers along the way.

Quillabamba jungle mountain bike
Without a doubt, another of the wonderful places in the jungle of Cusco that boasts a variety of waterfalls and incredible landscapes to enjoy by bicycle.
The cross-country route begins at Amparaes Pass at 4,400m. Just imagine descending from this altitude and reaching down to 1,000m. What a change from cold to warm weather.
The Quillabamba jungle is known for its cheerful people, delicious food, fruits, great coffee, and the numerous waterfalls perfect for swimming and simply enjoying them.
What are the waterfalls to visit on this amazon biking?
Before enjoying the waterfalls, we will have fun crossing some river pools from the Amparaes route, passing through small towns like Colca, Yanatili, Quellouno, Echarati, and Quillabamba.
After that, we will visit;

The path of this route is a wide asphalt road up to a certain point, and then the rest of the journey is a dirt road with a variety of flora and fauna.

Is it recommended to go independently?
We do not recommend going on your own for the following reasons:
- To get to the starting point, you need to use a specific mode of transportation with a rack to carry your bike without damaging any accessories or the frame of your bike.
- The route is 80 to 200km long and you will need a support vehicle to accompany you.
